A programme of five or ten workshops designed to develop your self-esteem, build confidence and awaken your dreams and ambitions.
The programme is facilitated by an experienced BACP accredited counsellor and certified poetry therapist. Charmaine uses a range of practical techniques from; Coaching, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Counselling and Stress management theories.
She also uses different aspects of therapeutic writing to address issues of confidence and self-esteem for personal growth and healing.
The programme challenges any negative self beliefs in a safe and supportive manner; it reduces stress and anxiety whilst promoting self-care.
A relaxation C.D. Courage to be me – Awakening your Dreams and Ambitions –This is an integral part of the programme offering guided visualisations and encouraging participants to continue with the breathing and relaxation techniques. The C.D. reinforces healthy lifestyle changes which help to reduce stress and tension.

Who is the programme for?
This programme is suitable for children, young people and adults who would like to become more positive and confident about realising and achieving their dreams.
How the programme is delivered
Creative and expressive writing is a key part of the programme. However; the focus is on personal development, not on writing techniques.
The programme is experiential and practical. Participants will have an opportunity to try out various writing exercises and we will use them as the basis for discussion and further exploration.
When we discover some of the unconscious messages we routinely send to ourselves this can offer us insight and opportunity to change.
How therapeutic writing works
We will use various prompts such as: words, poems, art, post-cards, positive affirmations, stories, unsent letters and acrostics.
The exercises include individual tasks, pair work, small and large group work and some guided imagery.
A journal is also provided for participants to use in between sessions to further enhance their self-awareness and improve wellbeing.
Participants especially benefit when they share their writing. Hearing their words validated by others can be a powerful learning experience and can lead to deeper levels of understanding and increased confidence. However, participants always decide what they wish to share.
By the end of this programme participants should be able to:
- Increase their self belief, self confidence and self esteem
- Explore habitual patterns and assumptions

- Transform limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs
- Increase motivation and set goals for success

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and a certified poetry therapist, I undertook my training in poetry therapy with The International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy in U.S.A.
I am a member of Lapidus International the words for wellbeing association. Lapidus works from the principle that words used creatively can be a powerful tool for health and personal, community and world development.
I am also a professional member of National Association for Writing in Education (Nawe).
With over 17 years’ experience of helping clients and more recently over ten years working with people using therapeutic writing in group settings to heal from life’s issues, gain a better perspective on life; and clarify their dreams and aspirations.
This workshop helps participants to recognise and develop undiscovered skills and talents that can be used to their advantage.
