Charmaine Pollard

In my own life I have had to face many challenges, find my own strength and rely on my inner resources. This is why I became a counsellor, I qualified in 1998.
Personal counselling helped me accept myself, gain a better understanding of myself and made me much more resilient in dealing with whatever issues life threw at me.

We are all unique; people find different ways which help them to change. I know you can change, having someone truly listen to you in a non judgemental manner and explore the sensitive issues which you would prefer to put to the back of your mind, but keeping nagging at you to do something about. I have been on this journey and have worked with many people for over sixteen years, in various capacities, from all walks of life and have seen great results.

Counselling is my vocation in life and I bring all my passion to this work, so that I can continue helping others heal and recover from life’s challenges. I currently provide counselling in London. I can also provide remote counselling by telephone to those unable to reach me in London. I have attained a number of professional qualifications and I am committed to my own continuing personal development by being an active member in a number of professional counselling bodies.

Over the past decade, I have come to experience the transformative power of words and have facilitated several personal development groups, writing for wellbeing, poetry therapy groups and workshops in various settings.  I am the only person in the U.K. to have qualified as a Certified Poetry Therapist (CPT) with The International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy in U.S.A with a non – U.S.A. based mentor.

I am passionate how words can be used to bring about healing and transformation. I now offer therapeutic writing groups in the community, libraries, therapy centres and at Further Education colleges.

I also  provide a writing for wellbeing programme for Secondary Schools and Academies,  entitled Courage to Be Me for Schools.

I am a part time tutor at City Lit, an adult Education College in Central London. I teach the following continuing personal development (CPD) courses:
